27 June 2021Lukaku beats Ronaldo (even if neither of them scored), Belgium eliminates the reigning champion Portugal and gives Italy to the quarter-finals of Euro2020: at 'La Cartuja' in Seville it ends 1-0 for the Red Devils of Roberto Martinez, who next Friday (9pm) will challenge the Azzurri in Munich.

Better the Lusitanians (more proactive) in the initial half hour. Immediate chance for Diogo Jota (6 '), who however opens his left foot too much from an inviting position, on 25' CR7 hit a free kick rejected by Courtois. Then the game - not beautiful, given the quality on the pitch - turns. First ring Belgium in the 37th minute: Meunier's shot from the outside does not come out by much. It is the starter of the goal (42 '), scored by Thorgan Hazard with a lightning bolt from the right at half height that strikes Rui Patricio.

The first chance of recovery is for Portugal (58 '), close to par with Diogo Jota's thrust from the center of the area (on Ronaldo's assist) a breath high. Lukaku shows up, but the Inter striker's shot is not accurate (63 '). Almost brawl in the 76th minute for a fool with the 'usual' Pepe (yellow card) on T. Hazard, at 82 'Courtois opposes with his fists the header (central) of Ruben Dias. Unfortunate Lusitanians a few seconds later (83 '): Guerreiro's right-footed counterbalance is printed on the base of the post. Belgium does little, suffers and risks again in the 88th minute, but Courtois is still reactive and stops Andrè Silva in low exit. Throbbing final, the conclusion of Joao Felix (94 ') parades to the side, then Portugal (they deserved to score) raises the white flag and greets the European Championships. Red devils ahead: now 'crossroads' with Italy.
