June 27, 2021 At least 111 people were killed in three days of clashes between rebels and Yemeni government militias in Marib. Pro-government sources report this after a new offensive by Shiite Huthi rebels, close to Iran.

At least 29 pro-government militiamen and at least 82 rebels were killed in the fighting. There was "fierce fighting, artillery bombardments on both sides and intense coalition air raids," explained a military official, referring to the military coalition led by the Saudis supporting the government.

Since February, the Houthis have intensified their efforts to seize Marib, the last stronghold of the government in northern Yemen.
