Dinangourou, a village in the Dogon country, is in conflict with the local jihadists of the katiba Macina, affiliated with Jnim, the Support Group for Islam and Muslims, led by Iyad Ag Ghaly and linked to al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

For a month and a half, this village has been living under a jihadist blockade, like that of Farabougou before it.

The villagers had left to look for fuel when the jihadists of Katiba Macina attacked them.

These villagers of Dinangourou, armed - a self-defense brigade was formed - tried unsuccessfully to force the blockade imposed by the jihadists since May 2.

They prevent the people of Dinangourou from going out and they also prevent people from returning to Dinangourou.

They prevent them by blocking the roads

”, testifies a resident, who specifies that those who try despite everything“

 suffer bodily harm

”.

“A

lot of people have been beaten

 ”.

However,

an inter-community agreement was concluded

in the Koro circle last February, supposed to ensure the free movement of residents. But according to several local sources, the jihadists of the Katiba Macina, accuse the young people of Dinangourou of having continued, despite this agreement, to collaborate with the Malian soldiers, who have a camp in the village. The jihadists accuse them in particular of communicating information to soldiers, of serving as their guide, or of preventing Fulani shepherds from going to fairs.

Mediation has been initiated: village leaders, religious, a member of the Communal Council have met the jihadists in recent days.

Without success.

Notables from Dinangourou, joined by RFI, appeal to the Malian authorities to ensure their protection.

In the village, food, gasoline and medicines are starting to run out.

“

For example, food, fuel, medicine and food are all lacking.

The population is still suffering.

Under embargo, it is not easy for the village to be able to hold on like this.
