What was going to be an unforgettable

end-of-year trip

in

Mallorca

full of activities has become a real nightmare for a group of 32 students from the Cadiz town of

San Fernando

who this Sunday are confined in their hotel, with civil guards in entry and under threat of "heavy fines" if they leave the rooms.

"They are using us as guinea pigs, they

want to isolate us by force

in a Covid hotel, where it is very likely that we will become infected and nobody tests us."

It is the cry for help that

Lola Cayetano, Blanca Méndez Castañeda and Isabel Cepedano

, three of the second year high school students in San Fernando,

have launched in a video

now confined to the Cassandra hotel in Mallorca.

The Balearic authorities want to transfer the group of students from San Fernando to

the Palma Bellver Hospital

in Palma de Mallorca, a medical center to treat coronavirus cases that has

384 rooms

and 14 floors.

But the students and their parents refuse to be confined in a medical center because neither is sick or with Covid symptoms, and

they are not tested

to confirm or rule out the disease.

Jesús Cayetano

, father of one of the students, explained to EL MUNDO this Sunday that the group of students from San Fernando traveled to Mallorca on June 24, after the massive outbreaks occurred on the island between the 18th and on June 20.

In addition, these students began their end-of-year trip after taking a negative antigen test.

"Our children have not been related to other study trips and when they arrived in Mallorca there were no longer any groups of infected, according to what we have read in the press," said the father.

This Sunday, the students are waiting in their rooms at the Cassandra hotel, all concentrated on the first floor of the hotel establishment. "We are the only group of students in the hotel and we are

the only ones confined

because the foreigners who are here go through the hotel freely," explained the young people who ask for help to be able to leave because "they are making our trip bitter."

This group of students was supposed to return from Mallorca this Tuesday, June 29, but they do not know whether or not they will be able to return to San Fernando.

Some young people have tests to enter the

military corps

next week

, others wanted to take the

Selectivity

tests

to raise the grade and they must also enroll for university.

"This situation is very unfair and shameful," they say.

The autonomous communities have reported

more than 850 positives

in coronavirus linked to end-of-year trips to Mallorca in recent weeks, with the Community of Madrid as the most affected with 363 infected students and with another 3,000 who were exposed to the 'macro outbreak' and that they remain in quarantine.

In addition to the Community of Madrid, the Valencian Community, Murcia, Castilla-La Mancha, Galicia, Catalonia, the Basque Country and Aragon are the territories in which infections have been confirmed in the last two weeks as a result of travel.

Reggaeton concert

The outbreaks originated in a reggaeton concert in the Plaza de Toros de Palma held more than a week ago and in different parties on boats and hotels. In Palma, the Balearic Government has reported this Sunday the isolation in the last 48 hours of

78

peninsular

youths

who have had a direct or indirect relationship with the outbreak of the study trip to Mallorca, of which 33 have tested positive for the Covid-19.

In Andalusia, the president of the Board, Juanma Moreno, said this Friday that a total of "

476 young Andalusians

have participated in these end-of-year trips to Mallorca.

The students "are all located and

in isolation

."

In addition, PCR has already begun on these young people, as they are considered close contacts of contagion cases during that trip to Mallorca.

The Ministry of Health has recommended that students who plan to undertake an end-of-year trip to Mallorca and who have not yet started it to

cancel it

, due to the Covid-19 outbreaks detected related to these trips.
