The Brown Nightingale stood in front of his audience at the Spring Festival party in April 1976, singing the famous poem of the poet Nizar Qabbani, "The Reader of the Cup", which he wrote to be his last and most wonderful song, but he cut his lyrical link to respond to the boos from some of the audience:

“By the way, I also know yellow, I know how to speak, and I know how to shout (scream).” Then he whistled from the stage, and shouted angrily, “But stay!” (Enough).

Nightingale says, commenting on a television program that he felt that about 20 members of the audience were intruding on the party, and he tried to persuade them to hear him until he forgot the lyrics of the song, and got angry.

Nightingale added that whenever he sang they would whistle, which was like a stadium whistling and not just an ordinary whistling, from their mouths, and the whistling continued throughout the ceremony.

Nightingale at the time - whose birthday falls today, June 21, 1929 - was subjected to an unprecedented attack launched by the Egyptian press. It is the first time that the star of Arab singing has faced his audience with this intensity and emotion, and his deteriorating health did not satisfy him.

Nightingale Al-Asmar accused his enemies of sending those who spoil his party, and there are differing opinions about who is behind this plot. .

Critic Tariq Al-Shennawi believes in the program "The Story of a Song", produced by Al Jazeera documentary, that the struggle over Nightingale was intense between Al-Mouji and Baligh Hamdi, and the question was, was there someone who actually deliberately spoiled the party, or was it the Nightingale's fear?

And if the Nightingale was in a healthy state, he would not have done that.

In Nightingale’s life, there are many stories of controversies and rumors, and his accusations of other senior artists that they hunt him for mistakes or try to distort his image, although this stems mainly from his keenness to stay at the top and his fear that someone else will compete with him, until these quarrels also reached Umm Kulthum. itself.

Umm Kulthum

"The most audacious that someone sings after Umm Kulthum or ends a party in which Umm Kulthum sang... But after she sang the great melody, You are my life... I don't know this (I don't know if this) is an honor or a prank, but the real honor is that I sing this night.. I sing because you, army men, celebrate with us, the people, on July 23.”

With these bold words, the Brown Nightingale began his speech on the July Revolution Day 1964, after he was forced to sing late after a long lyrical link to Umm Kulthum, to record for his audience one of his most famous differences with Kawkab Al Sharq, especially since the ceremony witnessed the first cooperation between his teacher and friend, the musician of generations. Muhammad Abd al-Wahhab and Umm Kulthum, known for meeting the clouds, was Nightingale jealous of the cooperation of his teacher and teacher with the lady of Arabic singing?

Umm Kulthum was angry at what Nightingale said, and informed Abdul-Wahhab of this, so he called Nightingale, who refused to apologize. Abdul-Wahhab warned him of the outbreak of a battle, but Nightingale insisted on his position, and said that he was not a reason for this battle, as it was said that Field Marshal Abdul Hakim Amer asked him to apologize He refused, and a decision was issued to ban broadcasting Nightingale songs on the radio.

Apology

Soon, Nightingale went to Umm Kulthum himself in her villa in Zamalek, and apologized to her, but she replied angrily, "It was not appropriate for her to say such a word in front of radio microphones and television cameras."

Nightingale tried to calm her revolution, and said that like her younger brother, Umm Kulthum replied, "Shut up. You think yourself young, you are old," according to what was published by the Egyptian newspaper Al-Ahram.

This did not prevent the Nightingale from mourning Kawkab al-Sharq himself after her death, and refused to be another singer, successor to Umm Kulthum, and said about her, "A miracle that no one can reach even after a million years."

Conflict with Farid al-Atrash

There are many rumors about differences between Nightingale and Farid al-Atrash, a topic that the press considered a rich material presented to the public from time to time, and the most famous disputes were at the Sham El-Nessim night party in 1970 due to the insistence of the two to sing on the same night, as Farid al-Atrash monopolized singing this night long before His departure from Egypt, and the dispute was mainly over who broadcasts his concert on Egyptian television live.

In another dispute, it is said that Nightingale wanted to sing in Beirut, so he was surprised that Farid al-Atrash booked all the singing places in Beirut, and it was also reported that there was a dispute due to the insistence of both stars to use Souad Hosni in a movie for each of them.

Reconciliation on TV

The reconciliation took place between them in a famous television interview, and Al-Atrash said that he was happy to meet Al-Andalib after a long distance away, and thanked the radio for giving him the opportunity to meet his brother Abdel Halim, and denied what the press wrote about differences, "It is not reasonable that there are differences between us that create things that may develop into a misunderstanding. And he said that he appreciated Abdel Halim, and described him as the beloved great singer.

For his part, Al-Andalib said that Al-Atrash spent his life and health to present art to people, and that he felt that unique art was one of the most important things that left an impact on Arab music, and it was surprising that the press equated him with Al-Atrash because he was one of his students. While the nightingale is only a singer.

Critics differ about Nightingale's personality, and whether vanity is the reason for his multiple differences with Arab singing stars such as Umm Kulthum, Farid al-Atrash, Warda and others, or whether it was his pride in himself and his keenness to stay on top, and to be the first star in the world of singing, with the exception of the musician of generations. Muhammad Abdul-Wahhab from the competition, he was considered by Nightingale as his teacher always and forever.
