Germany will vote in less than a hundred days, on September 26th.

These elections will mark the end of the Merkel era after 16 years in power.

His party, the CDU, was the last that had not yet presented its program.

It is now done since Monday, June 21.

Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet introduced him at midday alongside Markus Söder, chairman of the Bavarian CSU sister party.

“Environment, competitiveness and social security”: this triptych summarizes the 139-page program of the CDU and CSU Christian-democratic parties.

The objective: to prove that the conservatives are the only ones able to meet the climate challenges without undermining the German model.

Environmentalists, who were neck and neck not long ago with the right, are clearly targeted, even if they have since retreated.

“

Yes, we want to do more for the environment,”

says Bavarian CSU President Markus Söder.

But we can have a green policy without the Greens.

We don't need them.

We can do it ourselves.

Modernize the country

CDU and CSU want to abolish a tax on the better off and reduce charges on businesses.

They reject any tax hike despite the current budget deficit to finance the consequences of the pandemic.

The return to a balanced budget therefore seems complicated to achieve.

The candidate for chancellery, CDU president Armin Laschet, insists on the necessary modernization of his country: “

Germany can do better to meet the challenges of the future.

We need a modernization of our country for the current decade.

We want to shape a modern Germany.

 "

The Christian Democrats, now credited with 30% of the vote, are now in the lead and are the favorites of the next elections.
