And Hesse’s Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU), in his own words, is expecting it to dominate soon: In about a month it will be the prevailing corona virus causing Covid-19, he told the editorial network Germany. The question is how which vaccine works against them and how many people infected with it while on vacation. The answers to these questions depend on “whether we will get a fourth wave and return to contact restrictions.We cannot rule that out ”.

Regardless of this, data on the infection process in Hesse are coming from the RKI. The Vogelsbergkreis also has zero new cases under 100,000 inhabitants within a week. Only four other cities and districts in Germany have higher values. The state incidence is ten. Only Baden-Württemberg (13) and Hamburg (12) have higher values in the statistics. The front runner is Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with a value of two.
According to the RKI, the health authorities reported 34 new positive PCR tests overnight, after 32 before seven days and 175 before four weeks.
Since the pandemic began in March of last year, 290,208 people in Hesse have officially been infected with the Covid-19-causing corona virus.
That is about 4.4 percent of the country's population.
3,100 infections are still active, around 100 fewer than on Sunday.
There have been 7,470 deaths in connection with the pandemic so far.
17 million euros for 126 small companies
The state of Hesse is meanwhile extending another of its Corona aid programs for the economy.
Freelancers as well as small and medium-sized companies can apply for liquidity support through WIBank until December 31, 2021.
The renewed extension by half a year had been decided, announced the funding institute on Monday.
"With this program alone, we were able to help 126 mainly small companies with more than 17 million euros through the crisis," said Economics Minister Tarek Al-Wazir (The Greens) and Finance Minister Michael Boddenberg (CDU).
Many entrepreneurs would have to struggle with the economic consequences of the Corona crisis for a while.
“You can continue to count on the state.” As part of the “Liquidity aid for small and medium-sized enterprises in Hesse”, small and medium-sized companies can receive loans from EUR 5,000 to EUR 500,000 through their house bank.
50.3 percent of the Hessians with the first vaccination
After an intermediate spurt, Hessen is losing ground again in vaccination compared to the federal government: 50.3 percent of people in Hessen have so far received a first vaccination against the coronavirus. Hessen is now 0.5 points below the federal average. The front runner is Bremen with 57.5 - Rhineland-Palatinate comes in at 51. Resident doctors and staff have so far administered more than 1.4 million vaccinations, as the Ministry of Social Affairs has announced. Since the beginning of April, the general practitioners' practices in Hesse have also been vaccinated against Covid-19, a little later the specialist practices and, since June 7th, the company doctors have been added.
