In several places in south-eastern Sweden, forest fires have been dealt with over the weekend, not least in Mönsterås municipality, where staff from Blekinge have also participated and will stay until next week.

Concerns about lightning strikes

During Sunday evening, precipitation with elements of thunder is expected to pass, mainly over western Blekinge.

The concern now is that there will be fires in the dry ground, if the lightning strikes.

The County Administrative Board coordinates forest fire monitoring and will conduct flights twice a day.

- Our hope is to be able to carry out an overflight later on Sunday evening when the thunder has passed, says Magnus Kärvhag, rescue chief in Karlshamn.

"Be careful when grilling"

There has been a fire ban in Blekinge since June 8.

The rescue services in Blekinge together with the County Administrative Board call for caution when staying in forests and land.

- We encourage you to only grill on your own plot and not in the forest.

The fixed prepared barbecue areas should also be used with great care.

A final request from the rescue service goes to land and forest owners to check their land after the thunder has passed.
