In July 2016, after a chase with the gendarmes,

Adama Traoré

, who tried to evade his arrest, was found dead in the courtyard of the Persian gendarmerie.

The death of the young black man of 24 years then causes five nights of riots through the Val d'Oise during which 13 gendarmes are slightly wounded by firearms.

Indicted in 2017 for attempted murder of people in public authority, Bagui Traoré, 29, one of Adama's brothers, was first referred to a court for less serious qualifications of willful violence.

But after the appeal of the Pontoise public prosecutor's office, Bagui Traoré and five other people, including his wife, are finally sent back to court for attempted murder in an organized gang, an aggravating circumstance.

The attempt being punishable in France in the same way as if the act had been committed, they therefore incur life imprisonment.

The family of Bagui Traoré, she denounces a judicial harassment because of the fight led by his sister Assa, erected as a figure in the fight against police violence.

For this trial at the assizes, 80 people joined as a civil party, mainly gendarmes.
