The US government has decided to provide Taiwan, which has been delayed in procuring a vaccine for the new coronavirus, with 2.5 million doses, which is significantly higher than initially announced.

This was announced on Facebook on the night of the 19th by the American representative organization "American Association of Taiwan" in Taipei.

In this, the American Association of Taiwan said, "We are looking forward to receiving 2.5 million doses of Moderna vaccine in Taiwan. It represents the United States' commitment to Taiwan, a trusted friend and a member of the world's democratic family. It's a thing. "

On the 6th of this month, Senator Duckworth and others from the US Senate visited Taipei and announced that "the US government will provide 750,000 vaccines," but this has been significantly increased.

The United States is deepening its ties with Taiwan against China, which is positioned as its biggest competitor, and the provision of this vaccine is part of that.

According to Taiwanese authorities, the vaccinated plane will arrive in Taiwan around the evening of the 20th.

Vaccine procurement has been delayed in Taiwan, and so far, more than 2.3 million doses have arrived from overseas, including 1.24 million doses provided by Japan.

Shortly after the announcement by the United States, President Tsai Ing-wen posted on Facebook, "Thanks to President Biden for his strong support for the people of Taiwan."
