Guinea declares official end of resurgence of Ebola epidemic

Guinea this time overcame very quickly the Ebola virus disease which reappeared in the south of the country last February.
National health authorities quickly implemented the response, with the support of WHO and its partners, building on the expertise accumulated in the fight against Ebola in the country between 2013 and 2016.

".
The honor went to the Minister of Health, the doctor-general Rémy Lamah to announce under heavy applause the end of the Ebola virus disease in Guinea.
But it is not without difficulties, as the prefect of N'Zérékoré, Saa Leno, confirms to us.
"
It was the difficulties with the citizens, the populations especially the areas that were affected, there was often reluctance, but we had to go through awareness, so we have to contribute the local authorities and even the moral authorities so that people understand, let everyone know that they must participate in this fight
”.
Above all, we must not disarm, we must go very far and very quickly to avoid yet another resurgence of the disease.
Alfred Ki-Zerbo is the WHO representative in Guinea.

Guinea has received around 24,000 doses of the vaccine and more than 10,000 people have been vaccinated including frontline health workers.
