Ebrahim Raisi wins Iran's presidential election with 62% majority

His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, sent a congratulatory message to the elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ibrahim Raisi, on the occasion of his victory in the presidential elections.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, also sent similar messages of congratulations to Ibrahim Raisi.

Ibrahim Raisi won the Iranian presidential elections in the first round, by obtaining 61.95% of the votes, according to the final results announced by Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli yesterday.

The minister explained that the percentage of participation in the voting process, which took place on Friday, amounted to 48.8%, which is the lowest presidential entitlement in the history of the Islamic Republic since its founding in 1979.

The head of the Elections Committee, Jamal Araf, said during a press conference that Raisi, 60, had obtained "more than 17.8 million" votes, out of 28.6 million votes cast, noting that more than 59.3 million Iranians were invited to participate in the polls.

Presidential candidate Abdel Nasser Hemmati congratulated Raisi on his victory in the elections, according to Iranian media.

In turn, the Iranian presidential candidate, Mohsen Rezaei, congratulated his rival, Ibrahim Raisi, on his victory in the elections.

In Moscow, the Russian Information Agency quoted a press official at the Russian Embassy in Tehran as saying that Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Ibrahim Raisi on his victory in the presidential elections.

The agency quoted the source as saying that Putin also expressed his hope for "further development in constructive bilateral cooperation."
