Mr. Yasuhisa Shiozaki of the Liberal Democratic Party, who served as Chief Cabinet Secretary of the First Abe Cabinet, expressed his intention not to run for the next House of Representatives election, saying, "We need a baton touch for the next generation."

Mr. Shiozaki is 70 years old.



After working for the Bank of Japan, he was elected for the first time in the House of Representatives election in 1993. So far, he has been elected eight times in the House of Representatives election and once in the House of Councilors election.



During this time, in 2006, he first entered the first Abe Cabinet as Chief Cabinet Secretary, and from 2014 he served as Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare.



Regarding future activities, Mr. Shiozaki said, "In the future, I would like to work from a different standpoint of practicing the law and contribute to the country."
