Indications for vaccination

The director of the Gamaleya Center, Alexander Gintsburg, said that a person will not get coronavirus infection in the presence of antibodies to the S-protein or to most of it.

"In the presence of a certain level of such antibodies, a person is guaranteed not to get sick with either the Wuhan strain of the coronavirus against which the Sputnik V vaccine was created, or those strains that are currently circulating under various geographical names - from Britain to India," said Gunzburg ...

The scientist also spoke about contraindications and peculiarities of vaccination in different situations.

In particular, he urged patients with cardiovascular diseases to be vaccinated.

“Patients with pathology should be vaccinated first of all.

Because if they get infected, they are in the first risk group - diabetics, heart patients.

They must be vaccinated first.

You don't have to go to a cardiologist, but you have to go get vaccinated right away, ”RIA Novosti quotes Gunzburg.

According to him, bronchial asthma and hepatitis C are not grounds for disqualification from vaccination.

However, with urticaria and conjunctivitis in an acute state, it is impossible to vaccinate, the scientist noted.

Gunzburg also expressed the opinion that cancer is not a contraindication for vaccination.

However, he warned that chemotherapy can interfere with the formation of antibodies.

“If a patient with oncology receives chemotherapy in the form of cytostatics, then you will not do anything bad to a cancer patient as a result of vaccination, but the effect that we want to achieve, first of all, the formation of antibodies, will not be,” explained Gunzburg.

In addition, the scientist said that the introduction of the Sputnik V vaccine does not threaten infertility in the future.

"Neither in evolutionary terms, nor in terms of the closest observations of modern medicine, the vaccine does not have a negative effect," said Gunzburg.

He stressed that both components of the vaccine are made on the basis of adenoviruses that have long appeared in the human population.

“During this time, as we know, humanity has multiplied to 7.5 billion. No one has ever had any suspicions about these two viruses that are present in our body and which we have been infected dozens of times in the form of lungs, in different degree, acute respiratory disease ", - explained the scientist.
