- Yes, it is our dear gem, says Cecilia Holmström, conference and event manager at the Swedish Air Force Museum.

What are you going to do with it?

- From the beginning, it was intended as a conference room.

We have also had thoughts of some kind of exhibition.

In the video above, we get to follow into the Futuro House and hear what plans the museum has for it.

Typical futurism

Futuro was designed by the Finnish architect Matti Suuronen and was originally intended as a ski lodge for about six people.

Its round shape is reminiscent of a flying saucer and is typical of the 60s futurism and fascination with space.

The house was produced during the years 1968–1978 and is made of fiberglass-reinforced polyester plastic that is stabilized by a steel skeleton.

It is three meters high, eight meters in diameter and has 50 square meters of floor space.

In 1970, the air force bought three copies of Futuro to be placed on concrete pipes and act as a measuring tower at firing ranges.

One was placed at F 7 Såtenäs and two at F 15 Söderhamn.
