Afterwards, the participants applauded and passed Resolution A/75/L.100, and Guterres was formally re-elected as the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

  The selection of the Secretary-General of the United Nations was officially launched in February this year.

Guterres is the current Secretary-General of the United Nations and the only official candidate for the next Secretary-General, nominated by the Portuguese government.
