18 June 2021 Today the stock exchanges had opened almost unchanged.

However, they got worse.

In Milan, the Ftse Mib index falls by 0.95%: the balance of the day coincides with that of the week.

In the rest of Europe, London (-1.08%) and Madrid (-1.38%) are worse off.

Unlike yesterday, today mainly banks are going down.

The most traded securities of the Ftse Mib are Intesa Sanpaolo (-1.66%), Unicredit (-2.52%) and Eni (-1.94%).

On the markets there are still the effects of the position of the majority of the Fed's board of directors, which would like to bring rate hikes to 2023.

The dollar is strengthening, with the euro / dollar ratio which today fell below 1.19 cents, only to rise above this threshold.

The weak dollar this week also pushed commodities down, from gold to copper. They are priced in dollars and suffer when the US currency rises as they become more expensive for foreign investors. Today, however, there is a general recovery: gold + 1.02% (week -4.6%), copper + 0.3% (week -7.65%).

Wall Street yesterday closed in no particular order: the Dow Jones index fell, the Nasdaq rose instead. Futures today anticipate a trend similar to yesterday. At the end of the Wall Street session there could be some unexpected movements because today is the day of the quarter in which a series of derivative contracts expire. Investors have to decide whether to renew them or move their capital. It is the so-called day of the four witches.
