“The announcement by the Russian Federation of its withdrawal from the Open Skies Treaty is regrettable, it will have a detrimental effect on the global arms control architecture,” said the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell.

According to him, Brussels will discuss further actions at the next conference of the participating countries.

As previously stated in the Russian Foreign Ministry, Moscow called on the member states of the OON to convene a conference to consider the consequences of the country's withdrawal from the treaty.

Moscow recalled that all responsibility for the collapse of the treaty lies with Washington, which on May 27 notified the decision of the American side not to return to the Don.
