Hundreds of medical personnel in a province in Indonesia have been infected with the virus despite receiving a vaccine developed by Chinese pharmaceutical company Sinovac.

Reuters reported on the 18th, citing a government official, that the number of medical personnel, including doctors, who were infected with Corona 19 after completing the synovac vaccine in the Kudus district of Central Java, Indonesia was more than 350.

"Most of the infected medical personnel are asymptomatic and self-isolating," said Kudus' health director, Badai Ismoyo. "However, dozens have been hospitalized due to high fever and low blood oxygen saturation."

In the Kudus district, it is known that about 5,000 medical personnel are currently active on the Corona 19 quarantine front.

In Indonesia, the majority have been vaccinated with Sinovac, and since last month, Chinese-made Sinopharm and AstraZeneca vaccines have also been used.

In particular, medical personnel were classified as priority recipients, and most received the Sinovac vaccine.

With such a large number of infected patients among healthcare workers who received the vaccine, doubts about the efficacy of the synovac vaccine are growing.

Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has approved the emergency use of the Sinovac vaccine on the 1st.

According to the corona information platform 'Lapor Covid-19', in Indonesia, more than five doctors and more than one nurse have died from infection even after completing the vaccination.

In the capital Jakarta, about six of the doctors who completed the vaccination were hospitalized over the past month with infection, and one is in the intensive care unit, said radiologist Frizo Sidipratomo.

"I'm very worried that we can no longer rely on vaccinations alone," said Frizo.

In particular, medical staff were concerned that it is unknown how effective Sinovac is for the recently popular delta mutation.

The delta mutation was discovered in India and is known to be much more contagious than the existing virus.

In Indonesia, 946 doctors and nurses have been infected and have died since the outbreak of COVID-19.
