When the Viscaria mine was closed at the turn of the year 1996-97, the area was carefully cleaned by the then owner Outukumpu.

Enrichment plants and other buildings were dismantled, the dam was sown and the entrance to the underground mine was shot again.

A few weeks ago, the opening was excavated through a 50 meter long and 6 meter thick moraine layer, by the mining company Copperstone resources, which plans to reopen Viscaria.

"It looks very good"

The entire underground system with sloping track and production sites is of course still there, even if it is filled with water from a depth of 30-40 meters.

According to initial surveys, the underground infrastructure is in good condition.

- We have had mountain inspectors inside and looked at it in rough outline.

It looks very good, it is well preserved, says mining manager Glenn Nilsson.

Can cost a billion

This is also confirmed by the pictures taken with the help of drones.

This can prove valuable for Copperstone resources.

The question is what it would have cost to run the resorts today.

- It is very difficult to say, but between the thumb and forefinger probably a billion, says Glenn Nilsson.
