This was announced by the chairman of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly Volkan Bozkyr.

"I have the honor to announce the appointment of Antonio Guterres as UN Secretary General for a second term from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2026," TASS quoted him as saying.

Guterres has been serving as UN Secretary General since January 1, 2017.

Earlier, Guterres welcomed the plans of Russia and the United States to conduct a dialogue on mutual strategic stability.
