Longer working hours and more and shorter work shifts, was the result when the municipality redesigned the employees in the elderly care.

A change that was perceived as difficult for many of the employees.

Minor recovery

- It was felt that there was less recovery between work shifts.

Three people chose to take early retirement and some went down in working hours, says Tuula Maijanen, chairman of the municipality in Haparanda.

At the same time as the scheduling changed, the politicians also removed some posts.

The working hours in elderly care were also extended, from a 32-hour working week, to 37 hours per week, but a small reduction in working hours was maintained compared with the agreement.
