The time is just after 7.00 on March 12, 2020 when Babak Karimi opens his eyes.

What he sees in front of him makes him believe that he is still dreaming.

The men in his bedroom are dressed in black and their faces are covered with face hats, balaclavas.

They come from the police's regional task force, but Babak Karimi does not know that.

- I raise my hands over my head.

I think I have to work together if I am to survive, he says.

According to Babak Karimi, the men jump up in his bed and start hitting him in the head.

- They probably hit me 15 times over the skull, forehead and ears.

They keep shouting that they want to know where my laptop is.

Police thought the boyfriend was a child

Babak is placed on the floor and shocked by electricity.

The shock, which according to the preliminary investigation lasts for between five and ten seconds, hits his left buttock.

He is taken to the police station in central Malmö.

Here he is notified of suspicions of three serious crimes: child pornography, rape of children and sexual abuse of children.

Offenses punishable by at least two years' imprisonment.

After several interrogations, Babak Karimi gets to see the evidence, which consists of over 100 image files.

The pictures, which were uploaded via Babak's e-mail account, have been picked up by the police's digital surveillance system and registered as child pornography.

Babak recognizes the pictures immediately: they represent him and his boyfriend.

- I immediately understand that they have misunderstood.

They think my boyfriend is a child.

I just wanted to explode when I understood how wrong the Swedish police can be.

Report to the police

The investigation is closed and Babak is released from custody the next day.

Instead, an investigation is launched against the police.

Babak Karimi has made a report of abuse and misconduct as he believes that he has been mistreated and subjected to disproportionate violence.

The police report states that Babak Karimi kicked and fenced with his arms before he was shocked with an electric shock weapon.

He himself says that he did not resist and that he was handcuffed when the electric shock was handed out.

In the preliminary investigation, there is no information that the police dealt blows to Babak's head, but pictures from the prison show redness and bleeding wounds.

The police were never questioned

An investigation into assault is initiated by the special prosecutor's office, but the case is closed.

According to the prosecutor, it is not possible to determine which of the police officers did what.

"Further investigation is not expected to lead to crime being substantiated.

It has not been possible to determine which of the police officers the report refers to and who has done what ", the prosecutor writes in his decision.

- They say I have to identify the police.

But how can I do that when I have not seen their faces?

says Babak Karimi.

The police were never questioned: "Ports in the border country"

"Very unfortunate"

SVT has sought the police who carried out the operation.

Their boss, Fredrik Bister, says that it is standard that the task force holds raids of this kind - and that they are usually masked to protect their identity.

He does not want to comment on the course of events but says that there was a "scuffle" in the bedroom.

- In retrospect, it can be said that the input values that the police had were wrong.

It is very unfortunate what happened.
