In his appeal, the legislator noted that, according to the latest amendments to the electoral legislation, citizens who participated in the activities of extremist organizations do not have the right to be elected for terms of three to five years.

However, these individuals may still donate to other candidates or electoral associations.

“In this regard, I ask you to assess the feasibility of including in the list of persons who are prohibited from making donations to electoral funds: Russian citizens who do not have the right to be elected in accordance with paragraph 3.6 of Art.

4 of the Federal Law "On Basic Guarantees of Electoral Rights and the Right to Participate in a Referendum of Citizens of the Russian Federation" for the period of validity of restrictions on participation in elections as a candidate, "the text of the appeal says.

Currently, donations to the electoral funds of candidates and electoral associations are not allowed to be made by citizens under 18 years of age, foreign citizens, foreign states and organizations, stateless persons, anonymous donors, NGOs and the media performing the function of a foreign agent.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law temporarily banning participation in elections for those involved in extremism.

In early June, Anton Orlov, director of the Institute for the Study of Contemporary Politics, proposed limiting the right to work on election commissions for those involved in extremism.
