Blitz in Apple Daily offices, Hong Kong: pro-democracy editor and editor-in-chief arrested

June 17, 2021 - The US State Department calls on the Hong Kong authorities to stop media repression, condemning the blitz in the editorial board of the pro-democratic newspaper "Apple Daily".
"We call on all authorities not to target the free and independent press," State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
"Efforts to crack down on press freedom and restrict the free flow of information not only undermine Hong Kong's democratic institutions but also undermine Hong Kong's credibility as an international hub."
