It was on April 17, in the middle of the day, that a woman was assaulted on the railway street in Alvesta.

She was attacked with both a knife and a blow and was so badly injured that she died.

The man, who is in his 35s, was arrested shortly after the murder and has since been in custody.

- On June 28, prosecution will probably be brought, says Lise-Lotte Norström.

Prosecuted for murder

The prosecutor will prosecute the man for murder.

The man has admitted that he stabbed and punched the woman, but denies that he intended to kill her.

A minor forensic psychiatric examination investigation showed that the man may be suffering from a serious mental disorder.

Therefore, Växjö District Court has decided that the man should also undergo a major one.

- The court has decided on an in-depth forensic psychiatric examination, the prosecutor confirms.
