At least one woman was killed in an armed attack on a pro-Kurdish HDP headquarters in Smyrna, on the Aegean coast of Turkey. The victim, Deniz Poyraz, was an employee of the party, the second opposition force to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. According to an initial reconstruction, the assailant entered the building trying to start a fire and opening fire with a rifle, apparently indiscriminately. The man was stopped and arrested shortly after in a police operation.
