On Wednesday, the Left Party declared that it no longer has confidence in Stefan Löfven.

Party leader Nooshi Dadgostar hopes to raise the issue in the Riksdag on Monday next week.

According to SVT's domestic policy commentator Elisabeth Marmorstein, there is still a small window where Stefan Löfven has the opportunity to back down on the investigation proposal on free rent in new production.

- But then he has the second dilemma: that the Center Party and the Liberals do not want it.

Then he risks losing the Center Party.

In a strong situation, Stefan Löfven would face the risk of being voted out in the House, I think he prefers to call an extra election or at least threaten it.

- There will be some dramatic days during the midsummer week.

"What is the key issue"

How close is it to a by-election with today's announcement?

- This is decided by Stefan Löfven and above all by how the other opposition acts.

That is where the crucial issue is.

The Moderates and Christian Democrats have so far been very negative about helping Nooshi Dadgostar.

Later in the day, the Sweden Democrats' group leader Henrik Vinge announced that the party had submitted a request for no confidence in Stefan Löfven to the Speaker.

- Now he puts this on the Moderates and the Christian Democrats.

They have a relationship that they did not have just a few years ago and I assume that SD has informed M and KD that they should act like this, says Elisabeth Marmorstein and continues:

- For a long time, both Ulf Kristersson and Ebba Busch have said that they are prepared to overthrow the government any day and on any issue, so now it will be up to evidence.

"A difficult argument to win"

Elisabeth Marmorstein also says that she has a hard time seeing the Moderates and Christian Democrats save Stefan Löfven in a possible vote.

Not least considering that there are elections next year where there will probably be an election movement where the opposition parties will go hard on the government.

- It is a difficult argument for them to win, even if of course they do not want this situation. They would rather not have wanted them to land here with 15 months until the election. The question is whether someone folds down and who it will be.
