June 17, 2021 It was machine-gunned on May 6 in international waters off Libya. Now the commander of the "Aliseo" motorboat of Mazara del Vallo, Giuseppe Giacalone, has filed a complaint with the Carabinieri.

Assisted by his lawyer, Giacalone seeks justice for attempted murder, naval disaster, shipwreck, ship damage and serious threats.

His family's motorboat was targeted by a Libyan Coast Guard patrol boat while it was at sea - perhaps in forbidden waters - with seven crew on board and Giacalone himself was wounded in the head.

"Live by a miracle" he said once he arrived in Mazara del Vallo escorted by the Italian Coast Guard. The surveys were carried out on the fishing boat by the Ris dei Carabinieri.

The Rome Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation.
