Approximately 1 million doses of the new coronavirus vaccine provided free of charge by the Japanese government arrived in Vietnam on the night of the 16th.

The vaccinated aircraft arrived at the airport in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, before 10 pm local time on the 16th.

The Japanese government provided about 1 million vaccines developed by AstraZeneca and others, and Health Minister Nguyen Thanh Rong and others rushed to the airport.

Vietnam has used strict measures to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, but since the end of April, the number of infected people has increased significantly due to the spread of mutant viruses.

As of the 15th, at least one vaccination accounted for only 1.6% of the population, which is the lowest in Southeast Asia, and there is an urgent need to secure a vaccine.

"We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the vaccine, and we want to make the most of it," said Health Minister Ron, who said he would use it in Ho Chi Minh, a southern city with a high number of infected people.

Vietnam has received about 4 million vaccines so far, including those provided by Japan, but Vietnam has a population of more than 97 million, and the Vietnamese government will increase the amount that 70% of the population can inoculate by the end of the year. We are strengthening our efforts to reach out to governments and pharmaceutical companies in each country with a policy of procuring.
