During the night towards Saturday 14 November last year, a bus driver left his bus at the stop at the central station in Kristianstad to take a break.

A moment later he discovered that the bus was gone.

Through the GPS system on board the bus, it could be stated that it was in Hässleholm.

The police were alerted and after a while searching, the bus was found in a small town in the municipality, near the couple's home.

The man, who was sitting in the driver's seat when the bus was found, is said to have said in connection with the police intervention that the reason they took the bus was that there were no trains from Kristianstad.

People, unclear which ones, are said to have told him to take the bus instead.

Denies crime

The man and woman deny the crime.

During questioning, the man says that he did not get on the bus until it was in the small town in Hässleholm municipality.

He was going to Hässleholm with a car battery, he states in interrogation, and since there was a bus that was open, he went on it.

However, a surveillance film clearly shows that they were both on the bus during the journey from Kristianstad to Hässleholm municipality. Therefore, the woman is sentenced to a suspended sentence and daily fine for using means of subsistence. The man is sentenced to two months in prison for possession of means of subsistence, illegal driving and drunk driving. The couple will also pay SEK 10,000 in damages to Transdev, which runs Skånetrafiken's city buses in Kristianstad.
