- Now the case goes to the Swedish Transport Administration's legal and planning review and the proposal is approved even there, we intend to appeal to the next instance which is the government, says Ingegerd Edman chairman of Drothem's village law.

It is neither socio-economically defensible nor fair that we should bear the costs of maintaining such a large road, she says.

Required better motivation

The County Administrative Board first gave the Swedish Transport Administration backing and asked them to better justify why they want the almost five kilometer long road 801 to be managed by an individual road association when the bypass is ready.

The County Administrative Board was satisfied with the answer from the Swedish Transport Administration and thus gave the green light last week.

At the same time, the county administrative board thinks that road 801 is important.

- Yes, we see that it is needed for public traffic for agriculture and tourists to the Göta Canal, for example, says Jan Persson, director of public works at the county administrative board.

But why do you still say yes to the road being withdrawn?

- We have not thought that the question of road 801 is important enough to say no to the entire road plan for bypassing.

Everything is together and we can not choose to approve one but not the other, says Persson.

Despite the locked positions between the village team and the Swedish Transport Administration, which SVT reported on four years ago, the county administrative board tries in its decision to urge the parties to a collaboration solution.

The Swedish Transport Administration does not believe that the bypass will be delayed

The project manager at the Swedish Transport Administration believes that possible appeals have been taken into account when assessing that the bypass will be ready in 2028.

- It is included in the schedule - a certain space for appeal, says Andreas Eklund who leads the E22 project.
