On Wednesday, the Kronoberg Region announced via a press release that an increased occurrence of the delta variant is linked to the campus area at Linnaeus University in Växjö.

- It is in student housing that the spread of infection takes place and not in relation to our business, says Nikals Ammert.

"Deeply regrettable"

About 40 cases with a suspected delta variant have been identified in Kronoberg and a large part of these are connected to the university.

These suspected cases will now be confirmed with full genome sequencing.

- It is deeply regrettable and sad that this is happening and we urge everyone not to blow the danger over.

"Done what we can"

As recently as June 10, Linnaeus University issued information to all students urging them to continue to follow the recommendations.

- We agreed that the semester is over but not the pandemic, says Niklas Ammert.

All teaching has for a long time been done digitally and so will the summer courses.

- It is among students that the infection has occurred but not when they are studying, so we feel that we have done what we can.

It is not the time to party and socialize.
