“On June 16, a representative of the Russian embassy was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to protest against the violation of the state border of Lithuania,” the statement on the department’s website says.

According to the Lithuanian side, two Russian planes allegedly "illegally crossed the Lithuanian airspace over the Baltic Sea."

On June 15, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that two Tu-160 strategic bombers had flown over the Baltic Sea.

The department stressed that all flights of aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces are carried out "in strict accordance with international rules."
