A car bomb attack was carried out on Tuesday against a military barracks in the city of Cucuta, located in the northeast of the country. Thirty-six people were injured, details

El Espectador

, including three who are said to be in serious condition, according to the Colombian Minister of Defense. The latter went there at the request of Ivan Duque, the Colombian president. He detailed the facts: two people managed to enter this barracks with a white van which then exploded twice. In the pages of

El Pais

, Colombian version, Diego Molano explains that the most plausible hypothesis considered is that it is an act committed by the ELN, the National Liberation Army, the last active guerrilla in the country. But he does not rule out the possibility that former FARC members are the perpetrators.

Another hypothesis is circulating, according to the magazine

Semana

, always very well informed: this attack would in fact have targeted an American base located just next to the Colombian army barracks.

After noting the colossal damage inflicted on American facilities, this hypothesis would now be closely studied by investigators, explains

Semana

.

A meeting to discuss security is scheduled today in Cucuta, the Colombian defense minister announced.

A meeting which will count on the presence of President Ivan Duque who has already confirmed the participation of the FBI in the investigation and a strong reward in exchange for information on the perpetrators of this attack, specifies

Strike Committee suspends protests in Colombia

The National Strike Committee announced on Tuesday the suspension of the protest movement until July 20.

This is not the end, but a suspension of the movement, insisted Francisco Maltés, one of the spokespersons of the National Strike Committee, on the airs of a local radio station.

The latter makes an appointment on July 20, for a great day of mobilization and to submit bills to the government.

But this National Strike Committee does not represent all the protesters, recalls

El Tiempo

.

Other sectors, like the students, intend to continue the demonstrations as confirmed by the magazine

Semana,

which was able to discuss with some of them.

Towards the end of the mystery of the missing Ayotzinapa in Mexico?

A new body has been identified, it is that of Joshivani Barrera de la Cruz, who was 20 years old on the day of his disappearance.

The University of Innsbruck, Austria, carried out the research, explains

Excelsior

.

His body was found in the commune of Cocula, in the state of Guerrero.

This university had already identified two other bodies before.

An identification that undermines the official thesis of former Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.

As

El Siglo de Torreon

reminds us

, on the night of September 26 to 27, 2014, dozens of Ayotzinapa students went to the nearby town of Iguala to "requisition" buses to go to Mexico City, where they wanted to participate in event. Arrested by the police, 43 young people then disappeared and were never found. And according to the former Mexican president, it is a cartel of drug traffickers who confused the students with members of a competing cartel and who then decided to have them killed by armed men. A version that does not believe the current president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador who decided to create a Truth Commission and ordered the opening of a new investigation.
