At 10 o'clock on Tuesday morning, an alarm was received about a fire at a clear-cut in Hulthem in Vimmerby municipality.

When the rescue service arrived at the scene, it burned on a 2,000 square meter area.

- When we arrived at the scene, there were open flames of about one meter that spread in an easterly direction, says Kenneth Söderberg, rescue chief on standby at the rescue service in Vimmerby.

The fire is under control

The fire managed to spread but the rescue service managed to limit the fire to the cold felling and the young forest next door managed.

At lunchtime, the rescue service announced that they had the fire under control.

17 firefighters from three different stations work at the site.

- We have started to get around the fire and feel that the situation is starting to go in the better direction, says Kenneth Söderbeg.

He says that there was a fire in an area of ​​2,500 square meters before they managed to gain control of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still unclear.
