• The regional elections, coupled with the departmental elections, take place on Sundays, June 20 and 27.

  • In Occitania, the candidates want to attract the younger generations, particularly weakened by the health crisis, and often offer to help them financially, to live or to find a job.

  • Minimum income, free transport, safety in high schools, here is a small overview of ideas for the youth of the top of the list.

Between the disappearance of extra jobs during the health crisis, the increased isolation of students, the withdrawal from social life, the young, sometimes confused, of the Covid-19 generation need help, consideration, financial security , projects for the future.

In Occitania, where a little more than a third of the population is under 30 years old, the candidates for the regional elections all want to reassure young people and compete with ideas "cocconing" to seduce them - them or their worried parents - in the ballot boxes. .

Financial security

After having animated the national and departmental debate, the idea of a minimum of subsistence for the young people of less than 25 years old makes without surprise its way at the regional level. Mainly on the left. The one who goes the furthest is the ecologist Antoine Maurice. He wants to test the "universal income" initially on three "colleges": 500 students, 500 young people from neighborhoods and 500 rural young people, who would receive, to "emancipate", some "500-600 euros" per month . Same philosophy for outgoing president Carole Delga (PS) who offers a "young ecological income": 400 euros per month, in addition to training costs, for young people who engage in learning "green jobs".

The financial boost from Aurélien Pradié, the LR candidate, also has a counterpart. It consists of granting zero-interest loans, ranging from 10,000 to 50,000 euros, to set up a business on the condition that you spend two months of your young existence in an association working in aid to the disabled or to women and children victims of violence. As for Vincent Novès (LREM-Agir), he defends an original system of car loans to go to job interviews and then, if the job is won, to finance a possible move. Finally, in the area of pecuniary aid, Carole Delga and Myriam Martin (LFI) want to extend free TER and regional buses Lio to all under 26 years of age. Antoine Maurice also wants to create a regional fund to help pay rents for the most precarious students.

Physical security

But security is not just financial.

For Jean-Paul Garraud, it is also physical.

It therefore offers high school students, in addition to the generalization of cameras in transport and schools, and air purifiers in high schools, “one-off” and free self-defense courses.

Aurélien Pradié also wants to reassure young parents by creating, thanks to cameras and an "identification of dealers", "drug bubbles" around high schools.

Psychological security

Safety can finally be psychological.

As Carole Delga initiated, Aurélien Pradié and Myriam Martin propose to fight against menstrual insecurity by distributing free periodic protections.

The LFI candidate adds a "health pass" to it, allowing you to consult without paying health professionals, psychologists for example.

Antoine Maurice wants to assure all young people that they will be able to eat healthily, or even choose a vegetarian menu twice a week, in the canteens of high schools, U restaurants and training centers.

Beyond everyday life, Vincent Novès wants to reassure high school students about their future, by expanding the guidance system.

To target the right moment at a pivotal moment, it offers an individualized assessment per student with a training professional.
