Albania, Brazil, Gabon, Ghana and the United Arab Emirates were elected by an overwhelming majority.
We hope that the participation of these states in the work of the Council will contribute to strengthening the central coordinating role of the UN in world affairs, increasing its authority and effectiveness, ”reads a statement posted on the agency's website.
The ministry noted that "the Russian side is committed to close interaction with the new members of the Security Council in order to successfully respond to challenges and threats in the field of international peace and security."
