In Spain, Albert SG has just been sentenced by the court to 15 years in prison for the murder of his mother.

Sordid detail, he receives in addition to this sentence, five months in prison for "desecration of a corpse".

After strangling the victim, the man in fact cut him into pieces, then "ate his corpse for at least two weeks".

In its sentence, this court of Madrid considers that this man - nicknamed "the cannibal of Ventas", in reference to the district of Madrid where the police had discovered the macabre remains - was in possession of "his mental faculties at the time of the facts" and that he will therefore serve his sentence in prison.

An argument that goes wrong

The facts took place between January 21 and February 21, 2019 - the exact date could not be determined - in the apartment that this Spaniard shared with his 69-year-old mother, in the district of Las Ventas, famous for his arenas.

According to the investigation, Albert strangled his mother during an argument.

He then dragged his body to his room to cut it with a saw and two kitchen knives "to make it disappear," said the prosecution in its indictment.

"Once the body was cut into pieces, the accused occasionally fed on the remains of the corpse and stored other pieces in several plastic containers in the apartment and in the refrigerator," he added.

He had put other pieces in garbage bags and thrown them away.

Some pieces eaten raw

According to local media, a police officer, heard during the trial, said that when he entered the apartment, the accused claimed to have eaten some raw pieces, to have cooked others and to have also given some. to his dog.

The man, who police said had drug problems, was arrested in February 2019 as police searched for his mother, who was reported missing by a friend.

Contrary to what the defense tried to argue during the trial, the court ruled that there was no “evidence” showing that the accused did not have his mental faculties.

In addition to this prison sentence, the man will have to pay compensation of 60,000 euros to his brother.
