He noted that Shatalov "was a representative of the legendary generation of pilot-cosmonauts, a talented explorer and conqueror of the Universe."

“Twice Hero of the Soviet Union, a brave, courageous and selfless man, Vladimir Alexandrovich made three space flights.

He took part in the world's first docking of Soyuz-4 and Soyuz-5 spacecraft, as well as Soyuz-10 with the Salyut orbital station, the prime minister said.

According to him, “without such brave and purposeful people as Vladimir Shatalov was, it would have been impossible to conquer space and develop the industry”.

“His life is a vivid example not only for the new generation of pilot-cosmonauts, but for all of us.

The bright memory of Vladimir Alexandrovich Shatalov will forever remain in the hearts of his relatives, friends and colleagues, ”added Mishustin.

Earlier it was reported that twice Hero of the Soviet Union, pilot-cosmonaut Vladimir Shatalov died at the age of 94.
