The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that the courageous stances of the Palestinian resistance forced the occupation to change the so-called march of flags, while Jordan condemned that "provocative" march.
The movement said that the decisive resistance decisions also forced the occupation to change the flight path and intensify the deployment of the Iron Dome.
Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated that the resistance succeeded in achieving the deterrence equation and imposing new rules of engagement on the enemy, stressing that the resistance will remain the protective shield for the Palestinian people and that the behavior of the Israeli occupation on the ground will determine the course and nature of field dealing with it.
On Tuesday evening, settlers organized the so-called flag march in the occupied city of Jerusalem, amid confrontations between Palestinian youths and the occupation forces in Jerusalem and various areas of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, causing many injuries.
Yesterday, the Minister of Internal Security in the new government approved the organization of the march that headed to the Bab al-Amud area, in the first test of this government, which former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to bring down.
In response, rallies took place in various parts of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, denouncing the settlers' march, and in response to the call of the Palestinian factions, which warned against harming Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh had warned of "dangerous repercussions" that might result from the march.
For its part, Jordan condemned the Israeli authorities' permission for "extremist" groups to carry out the march, which it described as provocative and escalatory, in Jerusalem, as well as the Israeli forces' attacks on Jerusalemites in the Bab al-Amud area, in the Old City and in various areas in occupied Jerusalem and the occupied Palestinian territories.
The official spokesman for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Dhaifallah Al-Fayez, said that the Israeli authorities’ permission for the march and the racist and inciting chants and slogans that included it, as well as the police’s attacks on Jerusalemites, preventing them from entering the Old City and restricting them, are unacceptable and condemned escalatory actions and are incompatible with all regional and international efforts. To establish calm and reduce escalation and violence.
Al-Fayez held the Israeli authorities responsible for the escalation that took place today, and demanded that they stop the attacks and provocations and respect the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem.
And the United Nations envoy to the Middle East, Tor Wencesland, previously wrote on Twitter that "tension is escalating again in Jerusalem in a very fragile and sensitive security and political situation, while the United Nations and Egypt are working actively to stabilize the calm."
He urged all parties "to act responsibly and avoid any provocations that might lead to another round of confrontations."
Israel and the Palestinian resistance had reached an unconditional ceasefire agreement, after 11 days of the Israeli escalation in the Gaza Strip last month, and the resistance responded with hundreds of missiles that targeted Israeli towns in response to the violations of the occupation in occupied Jerusalem.
