There have been strict rules for pregnant and expectant parents during the corona pandemic.
In several parts of the country, there has been a ban on visiting BB.
Not even the birth partner or relatives have been allowed to accompany to some BB clinics in Sweden after the birth, due to the risk of infection.
The infection situation now appears to be declining and several regions have lifted, or will lift, the previous "partner ban" (see fact box).
Only Dalarna is missing
At the time of writing, only the Dalarna region has not yet lifted the partner / relative ban on BB, but it is underway.
A healthy relative is allowed to follow from 21 May, the Dalarna region tells SVT Nyheter.
As recently as Monday, the news came that the Kalmar region is lifting its ban on relatives at its BB clinics, and last week the same was announced from several hospitals in the Västra Götaland region.
- It feels really nice and fun to be able to share that experience both together, says pregnant Hanna Göransson to SVT Nyheter Väst, who sent a survey to all regions of the country.
Quick tests in some regions
However, green light does not mean free access to BB around the country.
Anyone who accompanies both the birth and the BB afterwards must be completely healthy, without symptoms of covid-19.
In some regions, such as Västerbotten and Gotland, the mother-in-law and the accompanying person may also undergo so-called rapid tests before entering the wards.
