NATO commented on the extension of START III

“We welcome and fully support the agreement between the United States and Russia to extend the New START Treaty for five years,” NATO leaders said in a final statement.

NATO also stressed that the conclusion of a new treaty contributes to international stability.

It is noted that the North Atlantic Alliance counts on the continuation of the dialogue between the two countries on arms control measures in the future.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on the extension of START III.
