Moroccans trapped by the blockade of Rabat to the 'operation Crossing the Strait' "Going to our country will cost us seven times more"
Diplomacy Morocco excludes the ports of Spain from the 'operation Paso del Estrecho'
The
Moroccan
government is
studying to expand the maritime lines this summer so that its emigrants can travel and include among them a new one that covers the route between the Portuguese port of
Portimao
(south) and the Moroccan
port
of
Tangier Med,
as announced in a statement by the
Navy. Merchant,
dependent on the Ministry of
Development.
This line would be added to those already approved to Tanger Med, from the ports of
Marseille (France)
and
Genoa (Italy), as
well as the line between
Sète (France)
and
Nador (northeast of Morocco),
but for the moment The inclusion of lines coming from Spanish ports is still not contemplated.
Last Sunday, June 6, the Moroccan government declared the
operation Paso del Estrecho
canceled
by excluding the Spanish ports of
Algeciras, Tarifa, Motril, Malaga, Almería
and
Ceuta
from the maritime rotations for this summer, which caused a deep malaise above all in the
Cádiz
region
,
where the largest number of travelers is concentrated every year.
And in order to reduce the costs of these trips by boat as much as possible, the government has imposed on shipping companies "reference prices" of
995 euros for a family
of four on a round trip, on the routes of long distance, and 450 euros in medium distance.
The goal is to transport 48,000 people and 15,000 vehicles per week by boat, reaching a total figure of 650,000 people and 180,000 vehicles, which is one fifth of those who travel in a normal year.
