The Ministry of Justice finalizes the 12 files that it will submit to the Council of Ministers to grant partial pardons to the leaders of the

procés

.

The decision will be made in the next two or three weeks, that is, between June 22 and July 6, as the deadline.

In the next three weeks.

It will not last any longer, as requested from within the coalition itself.

A little over a week ago, Juan Carlos Campo, Minister of Justice, went to the office of the first vice president, Carmen Calvo, and they addressed the issue of pardons.

The head of Justice conveyed that the work that is being done jointly with the Presidency was being finalized and that the calendar that the Government has always managed and that this newspaper has been reporting on could be fulfilled: late June, early July.

"When we say that they are close, it is because they are and it will be next week or the next, not in much more than three weeks they will be finished," said Vice President Calvo in an interview on Canal Sur Radio.

In other words, the deadline set in La Moncloa is July 6.

"Or sooner, because the sooner we finish them the better."

This calendar meets the expectations demanded from within the government itself, as several ministers asked to grant them "as soon as possible." Without electoral appointments in the immediate future, taking the decision without further delay, they believe within the coalition, would avoid the feeling that it wants to hide to dilute it in August, the holiday month and disconnection par excellence, and would allow the start of the new political course without the wound by the pardons bleeding so much. It would not be so protagonist and would allow to focus on the arrival of European funds and the economic recovery that the Executive expects.

"This is a firm bet for a Spain that is with Catalonia," said Calvo, who has tried to reduce the drama and expectation of the decision, trying to equate the pardons to the leaders of the

procés

with any other pardon. "From an administrative point of view, they are all the same. Every time a person is pardoned in our country, it is necessary to see very well what has happened, for what reasons the Government decides that part of the sentence is not fulfilled. , because it pursues an end greater than the benefit of the person to be pardoned ".

While waiting for how the granting of pardons is argued from Justice, it does seem that "public utility" will be alleged.

According to the 1870 law that regulates the exercise of the grace of pardon, "a total pardon will be granted to the convicted only in the case of reasons of justice, equity or public utility in their favor, in the judgment of the sentencing court -that it was the Supreme, who has already shown himself against them- ".

Ferraz imposes the PSOE closure of ranks

For weeks the Government and the PSOE have been talking openly about the granting of the grace measure. But it was not until this Monday when the permanent commission of the Executive addressed the matter for the first time. "No objection and no criticism at all," was the summary made by José Luis Ábalos, Secretary of Organization of the PSOE. The socialist leadership admits that the pardons divide the party and its electorate, it knows that there are positions and leaders who do not share the decision, but the problem was that its main granary, Andalusia, took up arms. That a victory for Susana Díaz in the recent primaries would lead her to challenge Pedro Sánchez again and take pardons as a lever.

That danger no longer exists.

Díaz has been annulled after the resounding victory of Juan Espadas, the candidate endorsed by the socialist leadership.

They believe that the door is closed for a critical current to be built from the most important socialist federation, for example, with the issue of pardons, and although there are voices that continue to rise, such as that of the president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García Page, in Ferraz they wield that they will not go from there.

Of opinions and reflections.

And, in any case, a warning is launched: "The party fully supports this issue," they settle in Ferraz.
