In Uganda, 18 activists from Bobi Wine's party, including three very close to the opponent, were released on bail on Monday, June 14, after nearly six months in prison.

Arrested during the election campaign last December, the opposition and numerous human rights associations called for their release.

Bobi Wine welcomed the eighteen activists released on bail at his party headquarters on Monday.

Among them, Dan Magic, producer of the singer turned opponent, Nubian Li, artist known for his commitment, and Eddie Mutwe, personal bodyguard of Bobi Wine.

The activists were arrested last December 30 during

a very eventful rally

, during which the opponent was helicoptered by the police to his home.

Prosecuted initially for non-compliance with the restrictions linked to the Covid-19 pandemic, they were then transferred to the military court in January for illegal possession of ammunition.

Bobi Wine welcomed this release on bail, thanking the Ugandans who mobilized against their imprisonment.

Many members of the opposition were arrested during the election period: the Interior Ministry admitted in April, before Parliament, having arrested more than 1,000 people during the campaign and the elections last January.
