The law of series.

A major fire broke out this Monday morning in the Galloo company in Halluin, near Tourcoing, in the North.

This is the second such incident in a month at a site of this metal recovery company.

This Monday, in the middle of the morning, the emergency services were notified of a fire on the Galloo site located in the area of the river port of Halluin.

From the start, about forty firefighters and nine devices were mobilized on the disaster, we learned from the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service of the North (Sdis).

"A large volume of scrap" on fire

The fight against the flames has just started, so it is difficult for the firefighters to make an initial assessment.

According to a source at SDIS, "a large volume of scrap metal is burning at the moment."

This same source added that the first findings "seemed rather reassuring".

On May 16, a large-scale fire had devastated in the middle of the night nearly 3,000 m2 of scrap metal on the Galloo site in Aniche, near Valenciennes, in the North.

The firefighters had fought against the flames for more than thirty hours and at the height of the intervention, 90 men and around forty devices had been mobilized.
