In a fire on the tenth floor of an apartment building on the Joost Banckertsplaats in Rotterdam, three people were injured in the night from Sunday to Monday.

Two of them have been taken to hospital.

The residents of the ninth to fourteenth floors were evacuated, according to a spokesperson for the security region.

Many dozens of residents were on the street and were received by the municipality.

The fire was extinguished by 3:30 a.m. and residents were able to return to their homes.

The fire broke out at 1.23 am on the balcony of the tenth floor and spread to the eleventh floor.

The fire brigade deployed many units and got the fire under control around 2.15 am.

It then took a while before the 'fire master' signal could be given.
