Despite the sweltering weather, the Dutch viewers have not yet become very warm from Poland-Slovakia.

The only moment of excitement is Róbert Mak's dribble, which leads to Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny's own goal in the eighteenth minute.

Thus, Slovakia leads 0-1 against the poor Poland.

a few seconds ago

42 'Finally a piece of class in this poor match, and of course Robert Lewandowski is the one who takes care of that.

The Poland striker takes a pass from the left very nicely and can therefore strike right, but his shot misses the target.

a few seconds ago

36 'Marek Hamsík shows himself for the first time in this match with a shot from a distance, but the attempt by the characterful Slovak goes far wide.

The action before that by Ondrej Duda was a lot nicer.

With the Zidane move, he sent two Poles into the woods, but Hamsík failed to promote the dribble to a goal.

a few seconds ago

The unfortunate moment for Wojciech Szczesny.

Róbert Mak initially hits the post, but the ball then lands on the Polish goalkeeper's back, after which the leather rolls over the goal line.

It is therefore the first own goal by a keeper ever at a European Championship.

a few seconds ago

27 'That does not make much difference, dear Juraj Kucka.

The Slovakian midfielder tries his luck from a distance, but the ball drops just too late and skims the roof of the goal.

a few seconds ago

22 'Róbert Mak's goal officially goes into the books as an own goal by Wojciech Szczesny, because the ball ended up in the goal through the Polish goalkeeper's back after the Slovak hit the inside of the post first.

Bad luck for Mak, who deserved this goal after his fine dribble.

18' GOAL Slovakia!

What a great goal by Róbert Mak for Slovakia!

The left half dribbles nicely past Kamil Józwiak and plays Bartosz Bereszynski through the legs, after which he shoots the ball behind the Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny via the inside of the post.

Slovakia surprisingly takes the lead in Saint Petersburg.

a few seconds ago

Robert Lewandowski has so far been able to make two hits, but not yet effectively in the first quarter of Poland-Slovakia.

The level is certainly not over in the opening phase in Saint Petersburg.

a few seconds ago

a few seconds ago

5 'Robert Lewandowski has just failed to control the ball twice before he pulls the trigger right away.

Just as often there is a Slovakian defender in the path of the shot, which has prevented him from scoring.

It is clear what the intentions of the Bayern Munich goalgetter are.

a few seconds ago

3 'There is almost the first chance for Slovakia.

Marek Hamsík finds a teammate from an indirect free kick at the far post, who brings the ball dangerously in front of the Polish goal with his head.

Defender Jan Bednarek can barely eliminate the danger.

a few seconds ago

Kick off!

The ball rolls in Saint Petersburg and so Poland-Slovakia has started.

Which team will be the first to do good business in group E?

a few seconds ago

Slovakia is only active at a European Championship for the second time in history.

On their debut in 2016, the Slovaks reached the eighth finals, in which Germany was too strong 3-0.

a few seconds ago

Saint Petersburg is not very far from Poland and so a lot of Poles have traveled to the Gazprom Arena, where 75 percent of the stadium is allowed to be filled.

It's not nearly there, but it won't lack atmosphere.

Despite the striking absence of Robert Bozeník in the match selection, there is an Eredivisie player on the bench at Slovakia: Tomás Suslov, the FC Groningen midfielder.

The nineteen-year-old player was one of the stars of the 'Pride of the North' this season.

Time to turn to Poland-Slovakia.

Robert Lewandowski is Poland's absolute superstar at this European Championship.

The World Footballer of the Year has scored 53 goals in 47 matches in all competitions this season.

Matthijs de Ligt trained fully with the group today and seems ready to play against Austria on Thursday.

The question is who should make way for him, because the central defense trio seemed undisputed against Ukraine.

That and more in our new European Championship update.

Italian football association wants first aid course after Eriksen incident

The Italian football association wants all professionals from the top three competitions to follow a first aid course.

The reason is the incident with the Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen, who suffered a cardiac arrest in the European Championship match against Finland and fell to the ground.

Federal president Gabriele Gravina referred explicitly to the Danish captain Simon Kjaer, who immediately put Eriksen into a recovery position after his fall and thus prevented him from swallowing his tongue.

The European Championship ball is almost never stationary in the group stage, so it will roll again in an hour.

This time in the Russian Saint Petersburg against Poland-Slovakia, the first match in group E. In Poland, Robert Lewandowski is of course the figurehead, while Slovakia has to rely on veteran Marek Hamsík.

Feyenoord striker Robert Bozeník is missing from Slovakia's match selection.

It is unclear why.

Line-up Poland:

Bereszynski, Bednarek, Glik, Rybus;

Linetty, Krychowiak, Klich;

Jozwiak, Lewandowski, Zielinski.

Slovakia line-up:

Pekarik, Satka, Skriniar, Hubocan;

Haraslin, Kucka, Hromada, Mak;

Duda, Hamsik.

The Czech Republic wins against Scotland

thanks to Schick's world goal Partly thanks to a world goal from Patrik Schick, the Czech Republic wins its opening match at the European Championship with 0-2 against Scotland.

Just after the break, the striker miraculously shoots the ball over Scottish goalkeeper David Marshall from the halfway line, making a throw for the most beautiful goal of the tournament.

Before the interruption, Schick already puts the Czech Republic ahead with a header, and so he can call himself the absolute star of this European Championship match.

88 'Patrik Schick, the man of the match, is taken to the sidelines and is congratulated extensively by the reserve players and staff members of the Czech Republic.

They now also realize that the victory is almost within reach thanks to the striker.

84 'And out of nowhere there is a dot of an opportunity for Scotland and that is thanks to the individual class of substitute James Forrest.

The attacker fumbles past a defender of the Czech Republic, cuts another one and then decides to pull the trigger.

However, Ondrej Celustka throws himself into the path of the shot, preventing the 1-2.

What a heroic act by Celustka.

82 'It no longer looks like Scotland will bring back the tension in this match.

The Scots are simply unable to create good chances and pump the balls into the Czech penalty area out of sheer desperation.

The defenders of the Czech Republic can't help but laugh about it, they stay upright that easily.

77 'Scotland has to rely on standard situations in this final phase and Scott McTominay is close to 1-2.

After a light nudge from a Czech, he can fire on the Czech goal from a difficult angle, but he only produces a drop-off.

You can expect more from a Manchester United midfielder.

With fifteen minutes to play, Scotland is whipped up by its own audience at Hampden Park in the hunt for the 1-2, but the home team has not been dangerous for minutes.

The Czech Republic seems to be taking the win here thanks to star Patrik Schick.

66 'What an imposed chance for Scotland on the connection goal against the Czech Republic.

Lyndon Dykes has the ball for the typing when the Czech Ondrej Celustka misses him completely with a header through, but the Czech goalkeeper Tomás Vaclík keeps his team going with a nice reflex with his right leg.

61 'Scotland starts after Patrik Schick's wonderful 2-0 and is close to the connecting goal here.

Stuart Armstrong strikes from the edge of the penalty area, but sees the Czech Tomás Kalas (ex-Vitesse) play a hero role for the Czech Republic by throwing himself into the path of the shot.

As a result, the ball just sails over the Czech goal.

The Scottish goalkeeper David Marshall is clearly too late and is defeated in the net.

It was cultivated by the outstanding Patrik Schick.

Patrik Schick is logically overjoyed after his sublime 0-2 for the Czech Republic against Scotland.

    52' GOAL Czech Republic!

This is the goal of Patrik Schick's tournament!

The Czech striker sees the Scottish goalkeeper David Marshall standing too far in front of his goal around the halfway line and tries it on good luck.

    The ball sails in superbly.

Schick will never forget this goal at the European Championship.

50 'Vacík almost has to get the ball out of the goal again!

The Czech goalkeeper is almost passed by teammate Kalas, but he can barely prevent a clumsy own goal.

    48' bar!

The start of the second half is hopeful for Scotland!

Goalkeeper Vaclík has to box a cross, after which Jack Hendry shoots the ball on the crossbar.

    Kick off second half!

We see one new face at the kick-off of the second half: Ché Adams has come in for Ryan Christie at Scotland.

Adams will most likely end up as a center forward alongside Dykes.

The teams, both with their own feelings, head to the dressing room in Glasgow.

The Czechs are cheerful after Patrick Schick's goal, while the Scots still have to get over that blow.

45+1 'The fans and players of Scotland scream for a penalty when McTominay crashes, but neither the referee nor the VAR intervene.

The arbitration is absolutely not childish in this tournament and this decision is in line with the chosen path.

45 'There is one minute of extra time in the first half.

Conceding a goal is never nice, but certainly not so close to halftime.

Andy Robertson complains to teammate Lyndon Dykes.

    42' GOAL Czech Republic!

    0-1 Then

there is the opening goal before halftime!

Scotland can't get the ball away after a corner, after which Schick jumps at the right time and heads the ball into the goal out of reach of Marshall.

38 'It is not really in line with expectations that one of the two teams will go to the dressing rooms with a lead.

Both Scotland and the Czech Republic give hardly any chances.

32 'It would be against the ratio, but Andy Robertson now gets the biggest chance so far.

The Scots captain escapes the attention of the Czech defense and shoots the ball just over the goal through Vaclík's fingertips.

The match started quite spectacularly, but now the storm has abated somewhat.

27 'The public starts to whistle in Hampden Park, because they see that the Czech opponent has taken the initiative.

The Scots watch, while the visitors from the Czech Republic play the ball around in their own half.
