Migrants, 14 landings in one day: 1,215 people in the hotspot of Lampedusa

June 14, 2021 410 migrants aboard the "Geo Barents" ship of Doctors Without Borders. They have been rescued in seven surgeries in the past few days. Among them women, children and unaccompanied minors.
"They are exhausted", says the NGO asking for a safe harbor: "A safe harbor must be given for immediate disembarkation".
The last 4 rescues, says MSF, "were conducted in the Maltese SAR area. But Malta has rejected our requests for a POS, stating that it is unable to provide a safe place".
The Adriatico quarantine ship is arriving in Pozzallo
The arrival in Pozzallo (Ragusa) of the Snav Adriatico quarantine ship with 192 migrants, landed last Saturday in Lampedusa, is expected this morning, when with 18 events in succession since dawn there have been over a thousand arrivals with the hotspot coming to host in a few hours over 1,200 people. Among the migrants arriving in Pozzallo also 12 positive. From here they will then be transferred to Crotone.
The transfer machine, coordinated by the Prefecture of Agrigento, works non-stop: yesterday 110 were boarded on the ferry to Porto Empedocle to be then transferred to Crotone.
This morning another 100 migrants will leave Lampedusa aboard the Sansovino, also for them the destination is the Cara di Crotone. For another 80 men, however, the destination is Caltanissetta, where they will be taken aboard a patrol boat. In the afternoon, however, 80 unaccompanied minors will be boarded on the scheduled ferry to Porto Empedocle.
Meanwhile, after the 18 events on Saturday, Lampedusa is breathing. During the night, only one landing: 23, including 8 women and 2 minors, were intercepted 5 miles from the island by a patrol boat of the Guardia di Finanza.
